A typical exterior finishing plaster stucco gives the home a smooth appearance that differentiates it from other homes. Like other coverings for your home's exterior, the moss could start to develop on the stucco. The nonflowering plant will hold moisture between it and the stucco, providing the ideal conditions for fungi like mold. In addition, moss could create ugly stains on the stucco. Get rid of moss at the earliest time possible to avoid discoloration and damage to the external of your house.
Wear protective goggles as well as rubber gloves. Get rid of the mossy surface off the stucco by rubbing it with a broom brush. Make sure to dampen the stucco using the water hose.
Place 1 gallon of lukewarm, saline water in an empty bucket. Mix in 1 cup bleach, and stir the mixture with an ice cube until the bleach dissolves. Oxygen bleach can remove moss, mold, mildew, and algae without harming or turning the stucco discolored. Additionally, oxygen bleach does not cause harm to vegetation.
Attach an extension handle to the scrub brush, then saturate the bristles of the brush with the mix. Start scrubbing the stucco using the brush using a back-and-forth motion. Continue scrubbing until you've removed all the dirt.
The oxygen bleach mixture should remain on the stucco surface for 15 minutes. This gives the bleach time to wash the moss and any leftover mold. Clean the stucco using an irrigation hose. Repeat the cleaning process.
Tips: You can find oxygen bleach in the laundry aisle of a variety of department stores.
